Assistant Principals, Deans, and other school officials play an important role at the AIM meetings as they can answer questions that arise about their school’s attendance policy and respond to parents who have questions regarding their child’s attendance, which often results in resolving attendance issues without further action.

Additionally, their presence and engagement at these meeting sets a solid example for both students and parents. Therefore, it is preferred that all school officials who refer student(s) to AIM attend the meeting.

If a school official is unable to attend, he/she must ensure that another official can attend in his/her place and be able to readily answer any questions from those particular students and parents.

In these situations, officials are encouraged to reach out to the student and/or parents prior to the AIM meeting if possible, to inform them of his/her absence and identify the colleague who will instead be attending.

In order to adequately address the increase in inquiries regarding attendance policies and procedures during this time, if your school has referred a large number of students to a particular meeting, please consider arranging for multiple school officials to be in attendance to ensure expeditious and meaningful post-meeting consultations with parents and students.
